Pavel Tolar: Biography

Pavel Tolar obtained an MD degree at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic,  and a PhD in immunology at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Prague, where he studied molecular aspect of activation of mast cells.

In 2003, he joined the National Institutes of Health, Rockville, Maryland, USA, as a postdoctoral fellow to work with Susan Pierce on the development and use of imaging technology for the study of B cell activation and signalling.

He moved to the Medical Research Council National Institute for Medical Research (now part of the Francis Crick Institute) in 2009 as a tenure-track programme leader in the Division of Immune Cell Biology to work on the structural, molecular and cellular mechanisms of immune receptor activation.
