Venizelos Papayannopoulos: Biography

Originally from Greece, Veni did his undergraduate studies at Rutgers University in New Jersey where he had the opportunity to work with Ken Irvine on the mechanisms that establish tissue barriers during drosophila development. Subsequently, he moved to San Francisco to pursue a PhD with Wendell Lim at UCSF, studying how lipid signals regulate protein signaling and actin dynamics.

He did post-doctoral work with Arturo Zychlinsky in Berlin on the molecular mechanism of neutrophil extracellular trap formation before joining Medical Research Council National Institute for Medical Research (now part of the Francis Crick Institute)  in 2012.
