Sir Paul Nurse awarded 2015 Friesen Prize

Sir Paul Nurse, Chief Executive of the Francis Crick Institute, has been awarded the 2015 Henry G. Friesen International Prize in Health Research by the Friends of Canadian Institutes of Health Research (FCIHR).

The FCIHR said: "Pioneer scientist, science advocate, policy maker and caring citizen. Sir Paul Nurse has achieved major impact through sustained excellence in research, leadership and communication over a distinguished career."

The Friesen Prize, established by the FCIHR in 2005 recognises exceptional innovation by a visionary health leader of international stature. It is awarded annually. Paul will deliver a public lecture in conjunction with the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Prize in Ottawa on 7 December 2015.

Dr Aubie Angel, President of the FCIHR, added: "Sir Paul Nurse has the uncanny ability to explain the most complex issues in science, research and health that everyone can understand."
